Longing for Healing Light in Your Grief? Get my 7-Day Devo

Do you need a speaker, or a retreat leader?

It'd be my honor to speak at your event.

Please know I appreciate the fragility and complexities of grieving hearts and desire to handle them with the utmost sensitivity, lack of judgment, and tender loving care.

In addition to what I have learned from personal experience with grief, loss, and the grace and love of God, I've been studying the Bible with many respected teachers for over thirty years. I have led or facilitated many Bible Studies and small groups, created my own grief groups, and written and taught my own studies and classes. I care deeply that people feel seen and heard.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of Colorado at Boulder and am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Biblical and Theological Studies at Denver Seminary. I am trained in Narrative Focused Trauma Care Level I through The Allender Center in Seattle and am a Certified Grief Educator through world-renowned David Kessler's certificate program.

Through more than four decades of journeying with Jesus, I wholeheartedly believe "the word of God is alive and active," and that we have "a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead" (Hebrews 4:12; 1 Peter 1:3). It'd be my privilege to share my story—the hard and the holy—as my desire is for eyes and hearts be opened to the kindness and goodness of God.

Unwrapping God's Gifts in Grief

In four interactive and kind-to-your-heart sessions, we’ll take a look at how Love, Hope, Peace, and Joy are gifts from God that can be slowly unwrapped in grief.

Writing Your Story of Grief, Grace, and Glory: A Healing Weekend

With prompts and guidance to help, attendees will embark on their own healing journey, writing their unique story of grief, grace, and glory. NO WRITING EXPERIENCE NEEDED.

And for those grieving the loss of a beloved pet...

Furever Home

Inspired by heartfelt questions in my own grief, wondering if I would see my “babies”—aka dogs—in heaven, these three sessions will cover what the Bible says about animals and their eternal destiny. A retreat designed not only to enlighten and encourage, but also to provide comfort and joy—yes, even laughter—as attendees honor their precious pets together.

What others are saying:

“Laurie has that rare capacity to honor grief and hold hope simultaneously.
She has been healed without forgetting the extraordinary pain of loss. I don't know a better companion for those who remain in that pain." ~ DR. "CHAPLAIN EVA" BLEEKER, EdD, Rev. Dr. Jan McCormack Endowed Chair of Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care, Denver Seminary
“Sometimes the most sincere worship we can give God is with tears...
...when there is nothing left but the reflection that you've experienced God in the most painful way imaginable and found Him good. Laurie's wondrous story is a rare gift, and I'm thankful she cares enough to share it with us." ~ DANNY OERTLI, Singer, Songwriter, and Author of Mommy Paints the Sky
“Laurie was placed in my life at the exact right time and helped me cling to Truth. When I couldn't see God's goodness through the deep fog of grief...
...Laurie spoke it aloud for me, interceding on my behalf. She reminded me God is in fact good even when we don't "feel" it. She declared the truth I couldn't yet and became a pinpoint of hope in my story." ~ MORGAN N., Mother of Baylee Hope in heaven
“The Lord has given Laurie a deep and unshakeable sense of his goodness, even amidst deep suffering. This is a gift, bringing comfort...
...to her own soul and overflowing to those around her. Laurie is like a watchwoman waiting for the morning—she sees God's light shining forth and his goodness breaking in and invites others to see it too, which brings restoration and healing." ~ REV. AMANDA GERBER, Care Pastor, International Anglican Church
“...but out of it all, Laurie has developed an incredibly deep relationship with Jesus and ability to lead others....
I see Laurie's spiritual leadership as her superpower!" ~ DREW B., Ministry Leader and Father of Josiah in heaven

“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."

Hebrews 12:2
